Porth Madog is situated on the western boundary of Snowdonia National Park (840 square miles) of hill walkers paradise. From the sheltered wooded valleys to the lofty peaks, walks for all levels of ability and adventure are abundant.

To the north are the mountains of Snowdon and the Glyders with their splendid sharp summits and excellent ridge walks. The Caerneddau offers fine whaleback ridges right up to the coast.

South are the demanding Rhinogs and Cadair Idris with its huge rock faces and sylvan cwms. The Molwyns, Arennigs and Arans lie to the east, remote and much less frequented.
