Where To Eat
Our hotel has four main eating and drinking areas all of which suit different diners preferences. Wherever you choose to sit, you can enjoy any dishes you wish from our menu – providing a huge range of choice.
A traditional and friendly bar very popular with local folk and visitors alike, this is a lovely place for a drink, chat and to hear Welsh spoken or even better to enjoy a ‘gastro’ pub light bite, lunch or dinner.
Since the bar opened in 1862 comfort has been blended with its original features such as the big open fireplace – with log fires in winter, a polished-wood bar, comfortable bench seating and photographs of Porthmadog’s history.
Our elegant, 65-seater restaurant has an original dark-polished wooden floor which dates back to 1862.
On the ground floor, our restaurant has easy access for all customers or guests – especially with walking difficulties, children and/or a guide dog – and is next to our lounge overlooking the Orchard patio garden.
It is open every day for breakfast, dinner and our Sunday Roast Lunch – the ideal place for a relaxed get-together or more formal business meeting.
Our spacious ground-floor lounge is an ideal place to relax – before and/or after dinner in the adjoining restaurant – by an open log fire in the winter.
It is also a less formal room to enjoy a family lunch or dinner and can be hired for either business functions or social occasions.
We have set rates for full- or half-day room hire, a range of quality buffet options and an excellent choice of teas and coffees served with complimentary biscuits.
Bookings of the lounge, for local community and/or charitable groups is complimentary, subject to availability.
Orchard Patio Garden
During the spring, summer and autumn customers or guests can sit out in our Orchard patio garden to eat and/or drink ‘al fresco’. This is a lovely, sheltered area but can be a ‘Mediterranean’ sun-trap on an afternoon surrounded by an abundance of fragrant flowers and bright colours.
With full access for wheelchairs, prams, buggies and pets, families with children and/or dogs are always positively welcome. Once an orchard full of apple trees, now only one remains and in September we pick the fruit to make home-made pies.
